Stopping in the markers can be a little difficult as you approach fast, you can either pull back as you approach to slow down quickly, or use the left and right triggers to change direction as you hit the marker. The most important thing to do is get as much speed up between markers so your passengers don't get bored.
Check your map regularly to plan your fastest route to the next marker.
